A total of 194 newspapers were published in Finland in 2010. Newspapers accounted for close on 30 per cent of the turnover of mass communication. There were 168 web versions of newspapers. Some 400 Finnish newspapers or magazines were available online via the Internet.
These data derive from Statistics Finland's freshly published Finnish Mass Media 2011 publication, which is an exhaustive review based on articles and statistics on mass communication in Finland. The publication examines the consumption and economy of the mass media, as well as diverse means of mass communication. International comparison data are also included.
The Finnish Mass Media publication comes out at intervals of about two years. It contains summaries in Swedish and English, and its tables are in Finnish and English.
