The twenty-ninth General Conference of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) will be held in Joensuu, North Karelia, in eastern Finland, on 20-26 August 2006.
Again, the conference will be a meeting place for national accountants and income distribution statisticians, and researchers of national and household income and wealth from all over the world. The sessions will address a host of interesting topics, such as measurement of wealth, ageing and demographic change, productivity measurement, child poverty, SNA, measurement of segregation, and measurement of government output.
The chief responsibility for organising the Conference lies with Statistics Finland. We will do our utmost to ensure that the participants have the best possible facilities available and good opportunities for exchanging ideas and experiences with colleagues, as well as for making new friends and renewing old acquaintances.
Finland's beautiful summer and the nature of North Karelia should still be very nice at the time of the Conference in August. We hope that participants and their families will be able to enjoy our summer and find plenty of attractions during their time off from the Conference.
Statistics Finland is pleased to welcome you to Finland and Joensuu to attend the 29th General Conference of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth on 20-26 August 2006 and wishes every success to the Conference and a pleasant stay in Finland to its participants.
Heli Jeskanen-Sundström
