Departure from the Congress site by bus to lake Tuusulanjärvi where many of Finland´s most famous artists, including our national composer Jean Sibelius and the famous painter Pekka Halonen, chose to settle. Our first stop is at Halosenniemi, which was built by Pekka Halonen. Here you also have the opportunity to see his work. Then we will visit Ainola, the home of Sibelius, where we will listen to an introduction of his life. Lunch will be served at the cosy old country-house restaurant Krapihovi. After lunch we will continue to Porvoo, a small, picturesque town from the Middle Ages. In Porvoo we will have a walking-tour in the charming old town with its idyllic wooden houses, handicraft shops and narrow, cobble-stoned lanes. The medieval Cathedral will be visited as well. Here you also have the possibility of visiting one of the many cosy cafes and have a coffee break or do some shopping in the old town. Return to the Congress site in Helsinki by bus. Departure from the Congress site by bus to the Nuuksio wilderness area. After arrival in Nuuksio, everyone will be equipped with a back-pack containing rubber boots, a raincoat and a fruit snack. Guided hiking in the woods, while exploring the beautiful Finnish flora and fauna follows. The scenery is majestic due to the wide variety of terrain where the highest elevations reach more than 100 meters above sea level. One can climb up the barren rocky hills and explore steep slopes covered with moss on our trek into the heart of this beautiful highland. We will experience a short orienteering training with funny, traditional Finnish tasks on our way to the original Lapland shelter, where lunch will be served at open fire accompanied with tales of Finnish mythology. After lunch, it is possible to bathe in a traditional wooden heated sauna and even have a swim in the beautiful lake. Return to the Congress site by bus. The tour is guided in English.

Departure from the Congress site by bus to Hämeenlinna. This oldest inland town in Finland was founded by Earl Per Brahe in 1639. First we will visit the medieval Häme brick Castle after which we will proceed to the home of Sibelius. From Aulanko, a popular Finnish tourist resort you will continue by boat to Visavuori. Here you will find the home of the sculptor Emil Wickström. Lunch will be served on board. On our way back to Helsinki there will be a visit to the Iittala Glass factory, where various shops offer a good selection of genuine Finnish glassware and handicrafts for every taste. Return by bus to the Congress site in Helsinki. The tour is guided in English.

Departure by bus from the Congress site. After a drive through the rural landscape of south-western Finland, we will arrive in Turku, the oldest city in Finland. Our first stop is the medieval Turku Castle where we will have a guided tour. A cruise with the steamship "Ukkopekka" to the small idyllic town of Naantali through the beautiful archipelago is a highlight of the tour. You will be served lunch on board. After a guided walking-tour in the beautiful old town, you will return to Helsinki by bus. The tour is guided in English.

Departure from the Congress site by bus to Emäsalo Island, just an hour’s drive from Helsinki. This full-day tour is for those interested in the art of fishing, as well as for those who simply enjoy the deliciously prepared catch of the day. With the guidance of a professional fisherman you will go out to sea to lure the fish by various methods and check the fisherman’s fishing-net. During the boat ride you will also be able to admire the breathtaking archipelago. In true Finnish way a heated sauna will be waiting for you after the fishing trip and you will also be served a delicious fish buffet before returning to Helsinki.
