The data are used for instance to anticipate and plan the national need to train teachers, in scaling the education and when responding to international information needs. The inquiry follows the Regulation approved by the European Parliament and the Council in 2008 concerning statistics on education and lifelong learning. The Regulation applies to the joint data collection of UNESCO, OECD and Eurostat (UOE), which collects data concerning educational institutions, teachers, students and degrees. Statis-tics Finland is responsible for delivering the data concerning Finnish education. The collected data will also be published in the "Teachers in Finland 2013" report in spring 2014. The report based on the teacher data of 2010 http://www.oph.fi/download/131646_OPH_Opettajat_Suomessa_2010_2.pdf was published in January 2011.
