<title>Seventy-six per cent of enterprises had their own website</title>

<description>Seventy-six per cent of enterprises had their own Internet website in spring 2009. A total of 97 per cent of large enterprises with at least 100 employees had a website while only 69 per cent of small companies employing 5 to 9 persons had one. Examined by industry, enterprises with websites of their own were most common in the sector of information and communications (99 per cent), and rarest in the industries of transportation and storage (51 per cent) and construction (58 per cent). More and more enterprises of all sizes have set up websites of their own. Since 2000, the number of sites has gone up by 29 percentage points. These data were collected with an inquiry in spring 2009 and they apply to enterprises with at least five employees.</description>

<description>In spring 2008, 27 per cent of enterprises used a software program for customer relationship management (CRM). Examined by enterprise size category, the prevalence of CRM software varies from 20 per cent among the smallest enterprises to 56 per cent among the largest ones. Looked at by industry, CRM software is used clearly most frequently in wholesale trade (52%), followed by post and telecommunications (37%) and business services. These data were collected with an inquiry in spring 2008 and they apply to enterprises with at least five employees.</description>

<title>A total of 88 per cent of enterprises are connected via broadband</title>

<description>In spring 2008 a total of 88 per cent of enterprises were connected via broadband. The propagation of broadband access has continued in enterprises of all sizes. Of all enterprises 21 per cent had a broadband connection with a transmission speed of at least 8 Mbps and 57 per cent had a broadband connection with a transmission speed of at least 2 Mbps. Connections with a transmission speed of at least 8 Mbps were clearly more common in large than in small enterprises. Of the largest enterprises 60 per cent had a high-speed connection, while the respective proportion in the smallest enterprises was 17 per cent. The prevalence of high-speed connections varies considerably also when examined by industry. High-speed connections were clearly most commonly used in the industries of post and telecommunications (57%) and business services (37%). These data were collected with an inquiry in spring 2008 and they apply to enterprises with at least five employees.</description>

<title>Enterprises often encounter problems in recruiting IT professionals</title>

<description>One-fifth of enterprises had IT professionals as members of their own staff in spring 2007. During the previous year, nearly one enterprise in ten had recruited or tried to recruit IT professionals. Of those who had recruited or tried to recruit IT professionals, 44 per cent had had a vacant IT professional position which had been difficult to fill. Eighty-one per cent of these enterprises stated the lack or insufficient number of competent applicants as the reason for the difficulty, 45 per cent stated lack of work experience in the IT field and 37 per cent excessively high requested salary. These data derive from a survey conducted in spring 2007 and concern enterprises with at least five employees.</description>

<title>Over 70 per cent of enterprises already connected via broadband</title>

<description>In spring 2005, altogether 73 per cent of all enterprises with at least five employees had broadband connection, whereas a year earlier the respective proportion was 63 per cent. Dispersal of broadband has been rapid in all enterprise size categories. Since 2002, the number of broadband connections has gone up by 34 percentage points among all enterprises and by 37 percentage points among small enterprises with 5-9 employees. These latest data derive from an inquiry survey conducted in spring 2005.</description>
