<description>According to Statistics Finland, comprehensive schools had 541,900 pupils in 2011. The number of pupils in comprehensive school fell by 0.8 per cent from the year before. Forty-nine per cent of the pupils in comprehensive school were girls and 51 per cent were boys. The number of pre-primary education pupils was 58,800, of whom 12,600 were in pre-primary education in schools and 46,200 in day care.</description>
