The destination of 77 per cent of the trips to Spain was the Canary Islands. Cruises to Sweden also attracted Finnish residents in the late autumn gloom. Domestic leisure trips with paid accommodation decreased from the respective time period of the year before. The region favoured in November was Uusimaa. In May Finnish residents made 444,000 leisure trips with paid accommodation in Finland. This is seven per cent less than in the previous year's May, when domestic travelling was record busy. Business trips in Finland and abroad recovered to the 2008 level after the slight downturn in 2009. These data derive from Statistics Finlands Finnish Travel Survey for which 16,659 people aged 15 to 74 permanently resident in Finland were interviewed.
