Point of departure for the revision of the classification
Regulation (EC) No 1893/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council obliges Member States to produce their official statistics according to the statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community, NACE Rev. 2, or a corresponding national classification version derived therefrom. The Finnish national classification of economic activities, TOL 2008, is such a national version (Regulation in full).
This nomenclature also contains the 5-digit level headings of
the Finnish national classification TOL 2008.

Operation 2008 web pages which also contain information about
the introduction of the classification in the Member States of the
European Community.
