Advisory Board of Official Statistics of Finland
The Advisory Board of Official Statistics of Finland acts as a
joint forum for authorities producing statistics in order to
advance the development policies of Official Statistics and the
objectives of the national level co-ordination of the European
System of Statistics. The Board has been functioning since 2002.
The term of office of the present Board runs from 1 January 2013 to
31 December 2015.
The function of the Board is to:
- To support Statistics Finland in maintaining and developing
comprehensive Official Statistics of Finland meeting the needs of
information users
- To issue recommendations and guidelines concerning the quality
of Official Statistics of Finland
- To harmonise the production processes of statistics and spread
good practices in the scope of Official Statistics of Finland
- To exchange information about national and international
development and co-operation
- To enhance familiarity with Official Statistics of Finland,
usability of services and availability of statistics
- To maintain and develop the portal of Official Statistics of
Finland
- Other tasks related to the development and co-ordination of
Official Statistics of Finland.
The Board organises seminars and discussions on topical matters
it regards as important in the scope of the national statistical
service. The Board can also set up sections to manage its tasks
efficiently. The Board is entitled to hear experts it considers
necessary.
