The development of the National Statistical Service is a statutory task of Statistics Finland. The co-operation and co-ordination of the National Statistical Service is supported by the main lines of policy for the development of the National Statistical Service, which are set for five-year periods. The main lines of policy define common objectives for the producers of the Official Statistics of Finland (OSF). An economically efficient and effectively serving National Statistical Service is built by realising these objectives.
On 21 June 2007, and after consultation with other producers of official statistics, Statistics Finland confirmed the Main Lines of Policy for the Development of the National Statistical Service in 2007-2011.
