Data from population censuses describe the structure of society and its changes. In Finland population censuses are drawn every ten years. The year 2010 was an international census year, when population censuses were carried out globally in nearly all countries of the world. At the end of 2010, the number of families with children totalled 582,000. This represents the lowest figure ever recorded in the statistics.
