Stronger growth in total output in September

Total output increased by 4.1 per cent in the year to September. After adjustment for seasonal variation, output in September was up by 0.4 per cent from August. Output grew in September in all branches of industry with the exception of agriculture and forestry. The data are based on Statistics Finland's monthly indicator of total output.

Output in agriculture and forestry decreased by 3 per cent in September. Output in manufacturing was 6 per cent higher compared to the year before as calculated per working day. Output in the construction industry increased by 4.5 per cent and that of trade by 3 per cent. Output in transport and communications was up by 6 per cent on the year before and that in other services and government services by 2 per cent.

The monthly indicator of total output is based on eleven monthly series on different sectors of the economy, which are weighted and summed up.
