18 Dec 2015 People of foreign background, having lived in Finland for a long time find employment well
It is more difficult for persons of foreign background to find employment than for persons of Finnish background. However, the employment of persons of foreign background, who have lived in Finland for over ten years is close to the employment rate of persons of Finnish background.
Over one-half of the museum visits at the Sami Museum Siida in Inari and at the Provincial Museum of Lapland in Rovaniemi were made by foreigners in 2014. These data derive from Statistics Finland's table package on cultural statistics.

2 Nov 2015 Three out of four persons with foreign background have at least average level Finnish or Swedish language skills
Three out of four first generation immigrants with foreign background had at least average skills in Finnish or Swedish in 2014. These data derive from the new Survey on work and well-being among persons of foreign origin.
Of persons with foreign background living in Finland in 2014, the reason for moving had been family reasons for over one-half. Close on one-fifth had come to Finland for work and one in ten for studies. Being a refugee or seeking asylum was the reason for one in ten persons. These are the first results from the Survey on work and well-being among persons of foreign origin.

The Eino H. Laurila national income medal for the year 2015 has been awarded to Helvi Kinnunen, Ilmo Mäenpää and Olli Savela. The medals are granted in recognition of their active work in promoting the use of national accounts and knowledge about them.
The "Portrait of a nation – 150 years of statistics on Finland" exhibition showcases the evolution of Finnish statistical production and, for example, the beginnings of national income and census calculation. In addition, the exhibition offers a chance to meet the average Finn from 1900, 1956 and 2014. The exhibition produced in cooperation with the Bank of Finland is open at the Bank of Finland Museum from 29 September 2015 to 30 April 2016.

Hannele Orjala has been appointed Director of Information Services at Statistics Finland for the five-year term starting on 1 November 2015.
Jussi Heino has been appointed Director of the Data Collection Department for the five-year term starting on 1 October 2015.

The production interruption of the statistics on building and dwelling production continues for the time being. Statistics Finland will, however, publish estimated data on building and dwelling production on 19 May 2015.

After the co-operation negotiations that ended in February, Statistics Finland announced that it was preparing to give notice to at most 21 employees on financial and production grounds. Now, the number of persons to be dismissed has been confirmed to be seven, and the employment of 12 persons will end as a result of other arrangements.
25 Mar 2015 Publication interruption of the statistics on building and dwelling production continues
The publication interruption of the statistics on building and dwelling production that began in January continues for the time being. Statistics Finland has been unable to restart the publication of data yet because the Population Register Centre has not been able to deliver sufficiently extensive building register data to Statistics Finland used as the data source of the statistics.
According to the cultural heritage statistics compiled by Statistics Finland, there were as many as over 41,000 vehicles registered as veteran vehicles in Finland at the end of 2014 while ten years earlier they amounted to good 20,000.
According to the Nordic Gender Equality in Figures publication, around 40 per cent of Members of Parliament are women in the Nordic countries, while the average for the EU countries is 23 per cent.
