Classification of occupations 1987, standard
-
The Classification of Occupations is used for compiling statistics on the population’s occupational structure and wages and salaries.
The Classification of Occupations is also used in vocational guidance and employment service, as well as in working life research, education plans and health surveys. The Classification of Occupations is also a tool for classifying people by socio-economic group.
-
The Classification of occupations 1987 is based both on the recommendations by the International Labour Statistics (ILO) and by the Nordic Countries and on national needs.
The present revised occupational classification of the Central Statistical Office of Finland has been prepared in close collaboration with the Ministry of Employment of Finland. Hence the classification used in employment service since 1987 and official statistics are nearly identical down to the 3-digit level.
