New price of building

The new price of a building refers to the amount of money needed by an expert when complying with a good programming, planning and building practice for implementing a new building with desired characteristics. The characteristics include the floor area and form, structures (capacity, fire resistance and waterproofing), use of spaces, conditions (heat, air, light and sound), services (space equipment and fixtures, and pipeline and weak current systems) and the theme and experience of the building. The new price does not include taxes.


For defining the new prices published here, 32 price groups were formed from the purpose of use categories of the national Classification of Buildings 2018 and the building’s municipalities of location were grouped according to the price level of construction into six index areas. The Greater Helsinki area is index area 1, in which case the new prices of Helsinki and Vantaa, for example, are the same but in other index areas they are typically lower than in the Greater Helsinki area.
