According to Statistics Finland, energy consumption in households grew by around eight terawatt hours (TWh) in 2021 from the previous year. That was a 13 % increase. Colder weather than usual in 2021 raised energy consumption for heating residential spaces by seven TWh to good 46 TWh. This increase was 18 %. The energy consumed in households amounted to close on 69 TWh.
