Record high rise in the purchase prices of means of agricultural production continued in the second quarter of 2022

According to Statistics Finland, the purchase prices of the means of agricultural production rose by 32 per cent in the second quarter of 2022. Agricultural production commodities and services cost 41 per cent more and investments 10 per cent more than one year ago. Input prices rose in every respect as raw material, energy and transport costs went up. Fertilisers cost over double, energy 53 per cent more and fodder nearly 44 per cent more than one year ago. The rise in prices is considerably higher than the general inflation, which was close on seven per cent in the second quarter of 2022.
