According to Statistics Finland, the number of deaths in 2021 was 57,659, which is 2,171
more than one year earlier. The general mortality rate expressing mortality also grew from the year before, being 10.4, while it was exactly 10 in 2020. The general mortality rate is a key figure relative to the population, which indicates the number of deaths per 1,000 persons of the mean population.
