Data collection method of the Consumer Survey changes and questions decrease in 2019

The data for the Consumer Survey have thus far been collected with telephone interviews. Starting from 2019, the data collection will be carried out as a mixed-mode collection: with telephone interviews and a web questionnaire. The data content of the survey is also lightened in this connection. In future, the survey will focus on examining consumer sentiment, expectations and plans concerning the economy. The following sections will be removed from the questionnaire: saving, investment and loan targets, financing forms for buying a dwelling and car, and ownership of modern equipment in households. Statistics Finland will continue compiling statistics on the prevalence of equipment in other ways that will be specified later.
