The Classification of Sectors 2012 will be introduced in the statistics on outstanding credit

The new Classification of Sectors 2012 will be introduced in the statistics on outstanding credit starting from the beginning of the statistical reference year 2014. The Classification of Sectors 2012 replaces the employed Classification of Sectors 2000.

The Classification of Sectors 2012 is based on the revised European System of Accounts of the European Union and is its basic classification. The revision of the classification brings changes particularly to financial institutions, where the number of categories grows from five to nine. On the other hand, some national further specifications have been omitted.

In connection with the revision of the classification, the sector classification of all units engaged in business activity has been reviewed and coded according to the new classification. The key factors in the determination of the sector category are the ownership, legal form, purpose of activity and financing mode of the institutional units. For this reason, the population for the year 2014 will differ in the statistics on outstanding credit from the previous one. Good 50 data collection units are added to the data collection. The significance of the revision will be assessed when the results of the first quarters are published.
