Building costs fell by 2.2 per cent in September

Building costs were 2.2 per cent lower in September 2009 than in September 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 2.6 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 3.3 per cent and those of other inputs by 7.6 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From August to September, the total index of building costs fell by 0.2 procent. The prices for labour rose by 0.3 procent from August. The prices of materials fell by 0.3 per cent, and those of other inputs fell by 0.8 per cent from August.
