Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased clearly in January

In January 2009, building permits were granted for a total of 2.1 million cubic metres, which is good one-third less than twelve months earlier. The cubic volume of residential buildings covered by granted building permits was less than half of that in the previous year. Likewise, the cubic volumes of building permits granted for industrial and warehouse buildings, and commercial and office buildings were well down on those in last year's January. Public service buildings and agricultural buildings were the only building types for which the cubic volumes of granted building permits increased from one year back.
