New orders in manufacturing grew by 7.6 per cent year-on-year in June

According to Statistics Finland, new orders in manufacturing went up by 7.6 per cent in June 2007 from June 2006. In the January to June period, new orders in manufacturing increased by 8.3 per cent year-on-year.

Among the examined main industries, new orders increased most, by 15.8 per cent, in the textile industry. In the metal industry new orders went up by 10.5 per cent and in the chemical industry by 3.6 per cent. In the manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products, new orders decreased by 0.6 per cent from June 2006. These statistics typically show strong fluctuations as new orders are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only..
