New orders in manufacturing grew by 11.5 per cent year-on-year in August

According to Statistics Finland, new orders in manufacturing went up by 11.5 per cent in August 2007 from August 2006. In the January to August period, new orders in manufacturing increased by 8.4 per cent year-on-year.

New orders went up in all the examined industries. They grew most in the textile industry where they went up by 12.6 per cent. In the metal industry new orders increased by 12.3 per cent and in the chemical industry by 10.9 per cent. New orders grew by 9.4 per cent in the manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products. These statistics typically show strong fluctuations as new orders are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
