Road traffic accidents claimed 8 lives in February

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 230 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February. In them, 8 persons were killed and 309 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 11 lower and that of persons injured 74 lower than in February 2017.

Of the persons who were killed, four travelled by passenger car and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, seven were men and one was a woman.

A total of 529 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to February period. In them, 27 persons were killed and 690 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two lower and that of persons injured 127 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017. Of the persons who were killed, 19 travelled by passenger car, one by van and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered five. In addition, one other road user was killed.
