Stock of central government guarantees EUR 12.8 billion at the end of June 2008
The stock of central government guarantees stood at EUR 12.8 billion at the end of June 2008. During the second quarter of the year new central government guarantees granted totalled just under EUR 1.1 billion. At the end of June the stock of guarantees was 3 per cent smaller than at the end of March and one per cent smaller than one year previously. Central government guarantees include all guarantees for which the state is ultimately liable.
At the end of the second quarter of 2008 a total of 40 per cent of the stock of central government guarantees consisted of guarantees to enterprises. Guarantees granted to housing associations made up 29 per cent and those to households 22 per cent of the guarantee stock. The remaining 9 per cent of the stock of central government guarantees was divided among insurance and financial corporations, non-profit corporations serving households and foreign countries.
