According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, Finland's population at the end of December 2022 was 5,565,519. In the course of 2022, Finland's population increased by 17,278 persons. The reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad: the number of immigrants was 34,780 higher than that of emigrants. The number of births was 17,953 lower than that of deaths.
