Data collection on local government personnel

Description

In the collection of data on local government personnel for employment statistics personnel data are inquired yearly in March from the units operating in several addresses. The data inquired are the personnel's name and personal identification data by establishment. The data are used primarily for compiling register-based employment statistics. The data can also be used for Statistics Finland's other statistics and surveys. The basic data on establishments (e.g. the establishment's name, address, number of employees) are also used for maintaining Statistics Finland's Business Register. The employment statistics are annual statistics that produce regional data on the population's economic activity and employment. The population of the statistics is formed by people permanently resident in the country on the last day of the year. The data to be produced are such as main type of activity, industrial distribution, status in occupation, number of jobs, location of workplace, and education and income data of the population and labour force. The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004). The data are used confidentially and only for statistical purposes. The data collected for statistical purposes are to be kept confidential by law. The data is returned via the Internet in the electronic response service.
