Domestic waterborne traffic

The statistics on domestic waterborne traffic describe shipborne transport of goods and passengers, departing from and arriving in Finland. The data are collected from various sources and published partly monthly and partly once a year.

The total volume of goods transported in domestic waterborne traffic was 5.2 tonnes in 2021. A total of 4.8 million tonnes were transported by ship and 0.4 million tonnes by floating. Transport declined by 30 per cent compared to 2020. Altogether 3.4 million passengers were transported in domestic waterborne traffic, which was 17 per cent more than in 2020. These figures derive from Statistics Finland's statistics on domestic waterborne traffic.
