Turnover in industry grew by 10.6 per cent in December 2022

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 10.6 per cent in December 2022 from December 2021. Turnover in industry has been growing continuously since January 2021.

Turnover grew in almost all main industries in December

Adjusted for working days, turnover grew in nearly all main industries in December. The growth was strongest in the electrical and electronics industry, 22.3 per cent, and in the chemical industry, 17.6 per cent from one year back. The growth in the turnover of the industries was partly due to risen prices. In the metal industry, turnover grew by 11.4 per cent and in the forest industry by 2.9 per cent. Turnover decreased only in the textile industry and was 3.1 per cent lower than one year earlier.

Export turnover grew in almost all main industries in December

Export turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in December in nearly all main industries. Export turnover grew most strongly in the electrical and electronics industry, by 23.0 per cent from twelve months earlier. In the metal industry, turnover grew by 10.9 per cent and in the forest industry by 1.3 per cent. Export turnover decreased only in mining and quarrying, by 9.9 per cent from twelve months earlier.

Domestic turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in December in almost all main industries. Domestic turnover grew most moderately in the chemical industry, up by 29.8 per cent from the previous year. In the forest industry, domestic turnover grew by 6.0 per cent and in the metal industry by 4.1 per cent. Domestic turnover decreased only in the textile industry, by 6.1 per cent from one year ago.

Turnover grew in December from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 0.7 per cent in December 2022 compared to November. In November, turnover decreased by 0.1 per cent, while in October it remained on level with the previous month.
