Data collection methods and data sources

Part of the prices are based on Statistics Finland's own data collection from different enterprises. Other data sources include the Finnish Energy Industries, Energy Market Authority, Association of Finnish Peat Industries, National Board of Customs’ Foreign Trade Statistics, and Finnish Oil and Gas Federation.

Updating frequency

Quarterly: in March, June, September and December.

Time of completion or release

The statistics are complete and published 2.5 months after the end of each quarter: in June, September, December and March.

Time series

Statistics Finland has released data since the second quarter of 2005. Data prior to this have been based on statistics compiled by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce and data have been published in the statistical appendix of the Energy Review.
