Description

The statistics present information about total consumption of energy, total consumption and supply of electricity, imports and exports of energy, energy prices and energy taxes and tax-like payments.

Data content

Total consumption of energy in Finland is given by fuel and energy source. Supply of electricity is described by production mode. Export and import data are presented by country. The data are released quarterly and given cumulatively from the beginning of the year. In addition, the statistics contain the valid price and tax data for energy products.

Data collection methods and data sources

Part of the data are based on Statistics Finland’s own data collection. Other data sources include Adato Energia Oy, Biowatti Oy, Energy Market Authority, Gasum Oy, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland, Turveruukki Oy, Association of Finnish Peat Industries, National Board of Customs’ Foreign Trade Statistics, Vapo Oy, and Finnish Oil and Gas Federation.

Updating frequency

The data are updated four times a year.

Time of completion or release

The statistics are published 2.5 months after the end of each quarter: in June, September, December and March.

Time series

Statistics Finland has released data since the second quarter of 2005. Data prior to this have been based on statistics compiled by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce and data have been published in the statistical appendix of the Energy Review.
