These statistics on mass media describe the finances, structures, contents, consumption, audiences, internationalisation and labour force of the different sectors of mass media. The data form the basis for the statistical publication Finnish Mass Media, which is an exhaustive review of mass communications in Finland. Some of the publication’s tables are also published in electronic format. Other statistical reports and special compilation are also produced on topical subjects. The production of statistics on mass media is a joint project between the Ministry of Traffic and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Statistics Finland.
Data on the finances of mass media, television, radio, sound recordings, videos, films, books and libraries, daily newspapers and periodicals, digital media and public support for mass media. Included are international comparison data.
The data are public.
A small proportion of the data are classified by gender, age, place of residence or education.
