The statistics describe the funding allocated in the state budget to research and development. Examined are also changes occurring in R&D funding between different years. The OECD and EU recommendations are observed in the compilation of the statistics. The Statistics Act (280/2004) is applied in the production of the statistics on science and technology (incl. research and development). In addition, Commission Regulation (EC) No 753/2004 requires collection of data and steers the compilation of the statistics. The data are collected jointly by a network of experts from different administrative sectors.
Data on central government's R&D funding by administrative sector (ministry) and according to the social policy objective of the awarding organisation and research.
The statistics make use the classification of socio-economic objectives.
The data are collected from national budget proposals and as questionnaire inquiries directly from the ministries and organisations funding R&D.
Annually since 2003.
Data are released about two months from the beginning of the statistical reference year. Exact release dates are reported in the Release Calender at http://tilastokeskus.fi/ajk/julkistamiskalenteri/index_en.html.
From 1995 onwards. Changes in the definitions and calculation methods affect the comparability of the time series.
