Statistics Finland's operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency's charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2012 seventy five per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 14 per cent and external financing three per cent of the total funds available.
At the end of 2012, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 1,011. The number of staff-years totalled 864, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 128. Women made up 64 per cent of the total personnel of whom 68 per cent had at least lowest level tertiary or university qualification.
