Statistics Finland’s operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency’s charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2016, seventy-five per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 13 per cent and external financing two per cent of the total funds available.
At the end of 2016, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 812. The number of staff-years totalled 739, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 107. Women made up 63 per cent of the total personnel of whom 75 per cent had at least lowest level tertiary or university qualification.
