Statistics Finland’s operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency’s charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2018 sixty nine per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 11 per cent and external financing nearly four per cent of the total funds available. Sixteen per cent of the funding was carried forward from the previous year.
At the end of 2018, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 845. The number of staff-years totalled 784, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 109. Women made up 60 per cent of the total personnel of whom 78 per cent had at least lowest level tertiary or university qualification.
