Sales in retail trade fell by 0.5 per cent in November
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales were 0.5 per cent lower in November 2008 than one year earlier. Sales volume decreased by 4.6 per cent during the same period. Sales increased by 0.9 per cent in both department store trade and daily consumer goods trade. In wholesale trade sales decreased by 11.4 per cent, whereas in motor vehicle trade sales grew by 3.1 per cent from the year before. In total trade sales fell by 6.8 per cent in November.
The cumulative annual change in retail trade sales over the January to November period was 6.1 per cent. Over the same time period the corresponding growth in motor vehicle sales was 4.6 per cent and in wholesale trade sales 9.1 per cent. In total trade sales grew by 7.6 per cent year-on-year in the January to November period.
