According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales contracted by 1.3 per cent in June from June 2012. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 0.3 per cent, while sales in department store trade went down by 0.6 per cent. Wholesale trade sales went down by 5.2 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 13.9 per cent from one year ago. Thus, sales decreased in total trade by 5.0 per cent in June.

The sales volume of retail trade contracted by 2.5 per cent in June and that of wholesale trade by 6.4 per cent from one year back. The volume of motor vehicle sales fell by 14.1 per cent, whereby the sales volume of total trade went down by 6.1 per cent from June 2012. The volume index of enterprises’ sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
In the January to June period, retail trade sales grew by 0.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 3.1 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 26.1 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were down in January to June by 5.3 per cent on the respective period of the year before.
