According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales grew by 1.3 per cent in July from July 2012. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 2.3 per cent, in department store trade by 0.5 per cent and in wholesale trade by 1.9 per cent from July 2012. By contrast, motor vehicle sales went down by 4.6 per cent from one year ago. In total trade, sales grew in July by 1.0 per cent year-on-year.

The sales volume of retail trade contracted by 0.2 per cent in July and that of motor vehicle trade by 4.7 per cent from one year back. By contrast, the sales volume of wholesale trade grew by 1.1 per cent from one year back, whereby the sales volume of total trade remained at the same level as in July 2012. The volume index of enterprises’ sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
In the January to July period, retail trade sales grew by 0.7 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. By contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 2.4 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 23.8 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were down in January to July by 4.5 per cent on the respective period of the year before.
