In the fourth quarter of 2007, the volume of Finland's GDP grew by 3.7 per cent from the year before. Compared to the previous quarter, the growth amounted to 0.9 per cent. The volume of GDP grew by 4.4 per cent in 2007. Growth was faster in the first half of the year but slowed down slightly towards the end of the year. When compared with the year before, GDP grew by 5.4 per cent in the first quarter, by 5.1 per cent in the second and by 3.6 per cent in the third quarter. Compared with the previous quarter, GDP grew by 1.3 per cent in the first quarter, by 1.0 per cent in the second and by 0.5 per cent in the third quarter.
According to the preliminary data of Eurostat, EU Member States' GDP grew by 2.6 per cent in the last quarter of 2007 from one year ago, and by 0.5 per cent from the previous quarter.
In the October to December period, the volume of exports went up by 3 per cent and imports grew by 1.4 per cent from twelve months back. The volume of private consumption expenditure grew by 2.9 per cent and investments increased by as much as 9.9 per cent in the fourth quarter.
