Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased clearly in March
In March 2008, building permits were granted for a total of 3.2 million cubic metres, which is a good one-third less than one year ago. Cubic volumes went down in all building types.
In January to March 2008, building permits were granted for 10 million cubic metres, which is 12 per cent less than in the corresponding period one year previously. The cubic volume of residential building permits decreased by roughly one-fifth and that of commercial and office building permits by one-fourth from the year before. The permitted cubic metres of agricultural buildings also decreased considerably from the previous year. By contrast, the cubic volume of industrial and warehouse buildings increased by one-fifth from January-March of the previous year.
