Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased in July
In July 2008, building permits were granted for a total of 2.2 million cubic metres, which is one-fifth less than one year ago. The cubic volume covered by residential building permits decreased by one-third from twelve months back. The cubic volume of industrial and warehouse building permits halved from last year's July.
In January to July 2008, new building permits were granted for a total of 30 million cubic metres, which is 13 per cent less than in the corresponding period of the year before. Cubic volumes went down in all building types apart from public service buildings. Building permits were granted for approximately 17,000 new dwellings, or nearly one-fifth fewer than in last year's January-July period.
