Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 1.8 per cent in December
According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by an average of 1.8 per cent from December 2010 to December 2011. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 2.2 per cent, while the producer prices of export industries went up by 1.3 per cent.

The export price index rose by 1.3 per cent and the import price index by 4.6 per cent in the year. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 3.4 per cent and the year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 4.2 per cent.
The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by risen prices of oil products, chemicals and food from December of the previous year. The rising of the prices was curbed above all by falls in the price of electricity.
From November to December, producer prices for manufactured products went down by 0.4 per cent. The fall was mainly due to decreased prices of electricity.

The base year and the release date for the Producer Price Indices
will change in February
The Producer Price Indices' commodity baskets will be updated, and the weight structures will be revised to correspond to the structures of production, imports and exports in 2010. In addition, the new base year will be 2010.
The first revised 2010=100-indices will be released on 24 February 2012. Since the statistics of January 2012, the indices will be published on the 24th day of the month following the statistical reference month, or on the first working day following it. However, the November's statistics will be published on the previous working day due to Christmas.
