Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 1.4 per cent in March

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by an average of 1.4 per cent from March 2011 to March 2012. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 2.3 per cent, while the producer prices of export industries went up by 0.4 per cent.

Producer Price Index (PPI) 2010=100, 2010:01–2012:03

The Export Price Index rose by 0.4 per cent and the Import Price Index by 3.6 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went up by 3.6 per cent and the year-on-year change in the Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply Including Taxes was 3.8 per cent.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by risen prices of oil products, food and metals from March of the previous year. The rising of the prices was curbed above all by falls in the prices of electricity.

From February to March, producer prices for manufactured products went up by 0.4 per cent. This was mainly due to risen prices of oil products.
