Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 0.7 per cent in January

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by an average of 0.7 per cent from January 2012 to January 2013. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went up by 2.0 per cent, while the producer prices of export products went down by 0.8 per cent.

Producer Price Index (PPI) 2010=100, 2010:01–2013:01

The Export Price Index fell by 0.6 per cent and the Import Price Index by 0.4 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went up by 2.0 per cent. The year-on-year change in the Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply, Including Taxes was 2.8 per cent.

The increase in the producer prices for manufactured goods was particularly attributable to risen prices of food, electricity and chemicals and chemical products from January 2012. The rise was curbed particularly by falls in the prices of paper, electronic appliances and non-ferrous metals.

From December 2012 to January 2013, producer prices for manufactured products rose by 0.2 per cent. The rise was due to higher prices of oil products and repair and maintenance services of machinery and equipment.

Weight structures of Producer Price Indices revised, base year unchanged

The weight structures of Producer Price Indices have been revised due to structural changes in the electrical and electronics industry. The revised weight structures are used from the January 2013 data. Year 2010 will remain as the base year.
