In January to May industrial output was on level with the year before
According to Statistics Finland, in January to May industrial output was on level with the corresponding period of last year. In May 2007, seasonally adjusted output was 2.6 per cent lower than in May 2006. However, industrial output went up by 0.9 per cent from April to May 2007. The volume index of industrial output describes development in the volume of the industrial output of establishments located in Finland. The preliminary data are based on a sample comprised of roughly 1,000 of the largest establishments within their respective industries.

Output fell in several main industries in May. In the manufacture of chemicals the decrease in output amounted to 8.9 per cent. Output diminished by 5 per cent in the metal industry and by 4.1 per cent in the manufacture of electrical and electronic products. In May, growth industries included the wood and paper industry, where output grew by 4.8 per cent, and other manufacturing, where growth from twelve months back amounted to 0.6 per cent.

Industrial output went up by 0.9 per cent in May from April
According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.9 per cent higher in May 2007 than in April.

Revised data for May 2007 will be published at 9 am on 31 July 2007 in connection with the industrial output data for June 2007. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised. The seasonally adjusted figures will also be adjusted for working days.
