Employment and unemployment in June 2006

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,559,000 in June, i.e. 38,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 72.1 per cent, while it was 71.5 per cent in June 2005. Adjusted for seasonal variation, the employment rate was 68.5 per cent.

The number of unemployed persons was 225,000 in June, i.e. 14,000 lower than one year ago. The rate of unemployment was 8.1 per cent, while it was 8.7 per cent one year earlier.
