Employment grew and unemployment fell in November 2006

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons in November was 2,444,000, or 54,000 higher than a year earlier. The employment rate stood at 68.8 per cent, while it was 67,5 per cent in November 2005. The average number of employed persons in the January to November 2006 period was 41,000 more than over the corresponding period in the year before.

The number of unemployed persons was 175,000 in November, which is 32,000 fewer than in the year before. The unemployment rate was 6,7 per cent, while it was 8,0 per cent in November 2005.The average number of unemployed persons was 208,000, or 14,000 fewer than in the January to November period of 2005.
