Internet version of Finnish education statistics into international distribution

Statistics Finland has produced an electronic version of the English compilation Education in Finland 1999, Statistics and Indicators. The network version is available free of charge at the Internet address www.stat.fi/edufinland. The printed version of the publication was issued at the beginning of June.

The Internet version is a useful tool for presenting the high educational level of Finns to foreign co-operative partners, for instance. It lays out such facts as the following:
- The proportion of those participating in tertiary education is largest in Finland among all EU Member States.
- The educational level of Finnish young people is one of the highest of all EU Member States.
- Measured by educational expenditure, Finland's investment in education is one of the largest in all OECD countries.
- Finns participate in staff training more often than employed persons in other OECD countries.
