Cubic volume covered by granted building permits declined in April to June 2023 year-on-year
release | Building and dwelling production 2023, JuneAccording to Statistics Finland, building permits for newbuilding were granted in April to June 2023 for a total of 7.9 million cubic metres, which was 35 per cent less than one year ago. The cubic volume of building projects started decreased by 15 per cent and that of completed building projects by 18 per cent from one year back.

Cubic volume covered by granted building permits grew in two regions
In April to June 2023, the cubic volume of building permits granted for newbuilding was highest in Uusimaa, Southwest Finland and Pirkanmaa. Of the regions, more permits in cubic volumes were granted for South Karelia and Southwest Finland than one year earlier.
Measured by cubic volume, most building projects were completed in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa and Lapland between April to June 2023. The highest growth was seen in construction projects completed in Lapland, Päijät-Häme and Satakunta.
On the level of the whole country, a total of 11,359 new dwellings were completed in building projects. Among the regions, most dwellings were completed in Uusimaa, 5,744. The growth in the number of completed building projects was biggest in the regions of Kymenlaakso and South Karelia compared to one year ago.
