According to Statistics Finland, comprehensive schools had 563,100 pupils in 2022. Of them, 9,800 attended pre-primary education connected to schools, 364,800 pupils in total attended grades 1 to 6 and 188,500 pupils attended grades 7 to 9. Forty-nine per cent of the pupils were girls and 51 per cent were boys.
